Father's Day

On Father’s day it is important to reach out to God our Father, to be inspired by His faithfulness, renewed by His forgiveness and made safe by His protection. We give thanks for what we have found of this love from our earthly fathers, and reach out to them on this day too.

Win Or Lose

After winning the Champions’ League Kaka remembers that he belongs to Jesus. It would be good to think that he would remember this if he had lost too.

Pray!

In the gospels Jesus seems to pray before big decisions, both in the morning, during the day, evening and at night The widow (with the unjust judge) never gave up The Pharisee focussed on himself. The publican focussed on God which was very uncomfortable, but the right thing to do.

Learning To Serve

God is calling each of us to Serve To do this we need to see the big picture (of God’s involvement from Genesis to Revelation in the world) and be in tune with him and with others. We will be gentle – not breaking bruised reeds or putting out smouldering wicks. Service is a matter of choice (“I will do this”) and understanding (of God’s will) We are all Full Time Christian Workers

In this 007 year we have a license, not to kill, but to love. We have the freedom to be patient, kind, truthful, protective, trusting, hopeful and perseverant, We have the freedom not to be envious, boastful, proud, rude, angry or evil

While the government is being investigated for giving out honours in exchange for political donations, we are reminded that our attitude to cash (and our ability to give it away) is what honours God.

The God who set the children of Israel free from their slavery in Egypt, who sets all people free from the power of death, who inspired Wilberforce to abolish the Slave Trade (200 years ago), who set John Newton free from being a wretch (in the hymn and the film “Amazing Grace”) is still in the business of setting people free through his Amazing Grace.

Death still exists in this world. It is not, however, our final, permanent destination We move on from death to life. Our tombs are for others to use and pass through to glorious resurrection life. Jesus is alive!
